The 2012 AMAA Winners

The 8th edition of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) took place yesterday in Lagos, Nigeria. Few of our films/film practitioners did us proud including Sarah Wanjiru who bagged an award for her Make-up prowess in the movie Shattered and The Legend of Ngong Hills bagging the Best Animation awards. Nigerian actress Rita Dominic walked away with the Best Actress in a Leading Role award for her role in Shattered  which was shot in Kenya.

The Nigerians yet again walked with a bulk of the top awards including The Best Film award which went to Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen's Adesuwa. Following closely was South African movie How To Steal 2 Million which bagged the Best Director, Best Supporting Actress and Achievement in Editing awards. The South African's also bagged the Best Film in an African Language for DV8 Films Stater of Violence.

We did have quite a few good films nominated including The Captain of Nakara (which we are still waiting to premier), Rugged Priest, Shattered and The Legends of The Ngong Hills.
