Art Through Anne Mwiti's Eyes

Art is not given much recognition in Kenya; from an informal survey we conducted through social media very few Kenyans could name just one Kenyan fine artist. However, there are scores of Kenyans who are passionate about art, gone right ahead to study art as a discipline or delved right into relentlessly creating beautiful pieces of artwork. Anne Mwiti is one of the fast rising fine artists in Kenya to watch out for and we had the pleasure of talking to her about her art.

Anne Mwiti has received several accolades for her work, the most recent being the only Kenyan to have her artwork chosen for a group exhibition in Brazil for the 2014 World Cup.

3. Yesterday The World Celebrated What does the World Art Day mean to you?
"The World Art Day aims at promoting and creating awareness of art world wide. This means a lot to me as an upcoming artist in Kenya. The initiative to create awareness of art should be done at all walks of life. Art determines the level of growth in any economy and that is not happening in Kenya. The magic that art brings should be felt. Happy birthday Leonardo da Vinci as we continue to be inspired by your great creations."
